Dorothy Wald, 81, Bismarck, died January 2, 2017, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, January 6, 2017, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E. Broadway Ave., Bismarck, with Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, January 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm. Dorothy was born September 26, 1935, southwest of Napoleon, ND, in Logan County, the daughter of Conrad C. and Margaret (Schmidt) Wald. She was raised and educated in Logan County, and moved to Bismarck, ND, with her parents in the early 1960s. On November 15, 1978, Dorothy entered the Baptist Care Center and in February 1979 she moved to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. In the late 1980s, she moved into Dakota Group Home and later to Gateway Group Home. Dorothy was involved in housekeeping through Pride Industries. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and belonged to St. Mary’s Altar Society. She loved to embroider and play cards. Dorothy really enjoyed vacuum cleaning, and put on a lot of miles doing it! She was a strong willed lady with a great sense of humor. Dorothy liked to tease, and the staff and residents enjoyed her company. She was a kind person and loved children. Dorothy was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends. She is survived by three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Julia (Alex) Feist, Bismarck, Christina Dosch, Bismarck, Margie (Arlon) Vonesh, Buxton, ND, and James Schmidt, Bismarck; her brother and three sisters-in-law, Francis Wald, Grand Forks, ND, Elizabeth Wald, Millie Wald and Lillian Wald, all of Bismarck; many nephews and nieces; and special friend, Darlene Rittenbach, Lincoln, ND. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Elizabeth Ell, Phyllis Wald, Helen Schmidt; her brothers, Conrad Jr., Markus, Sylvester, and Adam; sisters-in-law, Irene Wald and Alvina Wald; brothers-in-law, Henry Dosch, Adam Wald, and John Ell; and her five nephews, Leo Ell, Joseph Wald, Gary Wald, Kevin Dosch, and Tim Wald.
