Terry was born July 3, 1949, in Dallas, TX, to Loyd Vaughan and Opal (Grindle) Vaughan. He graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School, Dallas Texas in 1967. Terry proudly served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Cooke Barracks in Goeppingen, Germany and received an honorable discharge in 1973. He always stood with pride when veterans were acknowledged at public events.
Terry married the love of his life and best friend, Darcy Beiswanger, on November 28, 1987, in Jamestown, ND. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Nicholas born in 1990 and Justina born in 1993. They made their home in Garland, Texas, until November 1991 when they started to “migrate” north. Their first stop was Norfolk, Nebraska, then up to rural South Dakota where they finally settled in Estelline for a few years. In 2005 Darcy’s job brought them to Bismarck, ND, where they made their home.
Terry spent most of his life as a commercial sheet rocker. After health issues arose, he left the construction business. He then opened up his own business selling antiques and used furniture in Howard, SD. They also ran a small cafe alongside the furniture store as well.
Terry loved cooking, grilling, fishing, and watching westerns. He loved animals. He also loved going to auctions and garage sales. He loved to surprise his family with gifts, but most of all he loved spending as much time with them as he could.
