Rosella (Fandrich) Greenshields, 90, of Bismarck, formerly of Dodge, ND, died January 22, 2017 at the Baptist Health Care Center in Bismarck.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 418 3rd Ave W, Richardton, ND, on Friday, January 27th at 9:30 am MST, with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper officiating.
A rosary service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton on Thursday, January 26, beginning at 8:00 pm MST.
Burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton.
Rosella was born to Samuel and Charlotte (Koenig) Fandrich on February 8, 1926, in Bowdon, ND. She earned her nursing degree through the United States Cadet Nurse Corps at the Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1947. She worked for one year as a registered nurse but she used her nursing skills primarily tending to the many calamities of her ranch raised children and visiting cousins.
Rosella married Lemore James Greenshields on February 10, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. Lemore worked as a ranch foreman and Rosella was the ranch cook, north of Dunn Center. In 1950, they moved to rural Dodge where they ranched until retirement. They moved to Beulah in 1998. Rosella moved to the Baptist Health Care Center in March of 2011.
Rosella enjoyed embroidering, gardening, casino trips, playing cards, reading and fixing jigsaw puzzles. Her biggest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially the babies.
She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Homemakers, Stockmen’s Association, PTA, and was a charter member of the Richardton Catholic Daughters.
Rosella is survived by her ten children: Roberta Fandrich, Richardton, Carol (Claude) Wilmes, Bismarck, Robert (Marilyn), Dodge, Carmen (Richard) Sheldon, Menoken, Marilyn (Neal) Wilmes, Golden Valley, Patricia, Fargo, Lynn (Susan), Gaylord, MI, Diane (Terry) Friedt, Mott, Suzanne (Mark) Rummel, Richardton and Stacey Rebel, Hebron; 25 grandchildren and 29 great- grandchildren.
Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, Lemore; son-in-law, Emil Fandrich; ten siblings; one grandson; and one grandson-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Richardton Health Care Center Foundation, St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery fund or a charity of your choice are preferred.
