Theodore G. “Ted” Jenner, 75, Tuttle, passed away January 23, 2017, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 27, at English Lutheran Church, Tuttle, with Rev. Trisha DeBoer officiating.
Family will be greeting visitors from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, January 26, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, ND. Cremation has taken place.
Ted was born on July 23, 1941, to Theodore E. Jenner and Martha M. Kalenchenko in Steele, North Dakota. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1959. Extending his education he then attended Valley City State Teachers College for five quarters in pursuit of his teachers degree.
In 1961, he joined the U.S. Navy. After fifteen weeks of boot camp and nine weeks of interior communication school in San Diego, California he boarded the USS Preble DLG15 (guided missile destroyer) making it his home for four years. With an honorable discharge in 1965, he returned to help farm with his parents in Tuttle, North Dakota.
On December 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Janice L. Stroh in Tuttle. They made their home, raised their family and farmed northeast of Tuttle. Ted and Jan would have been married 50 years in December.
Ted, being raised in Kidder County, was active in Stewart Township as a supervisor and present chairman. He served on many boards including the Kidder County Social Service Board, Kidder County Health Board, Tuttle Farmers Elevator Board, FSA Board and the Low Income Housing Board. He was a County Commissioner for six years and served as chairman.
Ted was a member of the VFW, a 40 year member of the Harvey Eagles Club and a lifetime member of the Tuttle Wildlife Club.
Ted liked to play cards, especially pinochle. Ted and his pinochle partner, Fred Zerr, travelled across the state to play in many tournaments. His hobbies included spending time on his pontoon, reading books and even wrote a book “Quotes & Sayings That Pertain To Life” by Ted Jenner. He also enjoyed his Monday night pool league.
Ted was very proud of his hunting lodge and enjoyed hosting the annual deer camp each hunting season with special friends. In the spring he liked his fishing trips to Lake of the Woods in Minnesota.
Ted is survived by his wife, Jan, Tuttle and his four children: Brandt (Joy) Jenner, Harvey, Vondell (Dan) Stutlien, Harvey, Sheldon Jenner (Fiance Kerri Klein) Willston and Lori Jenner, Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Taylor (Dillon) Hoffman, Steven and Devany Stutlien, Caitlin and Carson Jenner, Logan and Ty Jenner; sister, Linda (Greg) Paluck, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy; and sister, Phyllis.
