LaVon Kjonaas passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2017, in her home in Bismarck, ND. She was 80 years old.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, February 3, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Fellowship will follow the service. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
LaVon grew up on a farm near Max, ND, and attended Max High School where she was active in 4-H and band. After graduating from Max High School in 1954, she attended NDSU and Minot State University. She received an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education.
LaVon married Loren Kjonaas and they were happily married for 61 years. They lived in Fessenden and then moved to Devil’s Lake before settling down in Bismarck in 1964.
LaVon is survived by her husband, Loren of Bismarck, ND; her children, Cheryl Rose (Brian) of Clinton, WI, Roger Kjonaas of Bismarck, ND, and Michele Kjonaas of Minneapolis, MN; her brothers, Wayne Lee (Ginger) of Big Sky, MT, and David Lee of Phoenix, AZ; her seven grandchildren, her two great-grandchildren; her nephews and cousins; and her dear bridge club and lunch friends.
LaVon is preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Bernice Lee.
