Judith L. (Johnson) Hetletved, 94, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2017, at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, February 9, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Robinson, with Rev. Trisha DeBoer officiating.
Burial will be held in the spring at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Robinson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm Wednesday, February 8, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Judith was born March 30, 1922, on the family farm northeast of Tuttle, ND, area. She was the youngest daughter of Hans and Dina (Friestad) Johnson, a family of six daughters and one son. Judith attended school in Stewart School District and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1940. She received her teaching certificate and taught in the rural schools of Kidder County. In the fall of 1943 she went to Seattle, WA, where she worked at Boeing Aircraft. On June 8, 1944, Judith married Clois Hetletved in Steele, ND.
In the spring of 1947, Clois and Judith bought the Enoch Friestad farm northeast of Tuttle, ND, and began their lifetime of farming. They lived there until 1956 when they bought the Wallace Posey farm north of Robinson. In December of 2000, they moved into a trailer house in Robinson. Clois passed away September 22, 2003. Judith continued to live in Robinson until September 2007, when she moved to the Waterford in Bismarck, ND. After suffering from a stroke in 2012 she moved into the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
Judith loved to do a challenging crossword puzzle or read a good book. She was an avid reader and had her own personal library. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She had crocheted many afghans and each grandchild received a blanket at birth. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren of which she was so very proud of their many accomplishments.
Judith is survived by her daughters, Charlene (John) Falk, Chandler, AZ, and Geniel (Dale Jr.) Schell, Washburn; her son, Clois Jr. (Helen) Hetletved, Grand Forks; seven grandchildren, Jason Falk, Lisa (Rick) Shuman, Dustin (Bethany) Hetletved, Clois III “Lee” (Jamie) Hetletved, Samantha, Zachary, and Mandy Schell; six great-grandchildren, Joshua Baxter, Chandler Smith, Morgan and Jane Hetletved, Presley and Peyson Hetletved; sister, Gladys Lybeck, Tucson, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clois Hetletved; her parents, Hans and Dina Johnson; four sisters, Alta Johnson, Lillie Bauer, Palma Larson, and Helen Keller; and one brother, Edwin Johnson.
