Harold S. Kottenbrock, 87, Bismarck, died February 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Care Center, Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, February 10, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, Bismarck, with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating.
Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, February 9, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a KC Rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Harold Kottenbrock was born March 24, 1929, in Glen Ullin, ND, the son of Joseph and Christina (Brandt) Kottenbrock. Harold attended school at St. Clemmons Catholic School and Assumption Abby in Richardton, ND. He farmed with his father until 1951. Harold married Clementine Goldade on June 5, 1951, and together they had six children.
In February of 1952, Harold was called to serve his country. He entered Basin Training Camp at Ft. Gordon, GA, on February 12, and then was stationed in Europe (Korean Conflict) until June 1954. After he returned, he continued farming until 1960 and then moved to Bismarck, where he owned and operated a delivery service for 17 years. In 1977, Harold went to work as a heavy equipment mechanic. He retired in 1987. Harold belonged to Knights of Columbus-4th Degree, was an Honor guard for VFW, and was a member of Church of St. Anne Cathoilc Church.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Clementine; his children, Loell (Duane) Portscheller, Bismarck, Deborah Leingang, Bismarck, Jeffery “JJ” (Kathy) Kottenbrock, Bismarck, Mary Jane (Clark) Aman, and Joseph Kottenbrock, Bismarck; sisters, Adeline Kastner, Redmond, WA, and Vernie Werner, Bismarck; 10 grandchildren, Peggy Sue, Bobbi Jo, Billi Jean, B.J., Mandi, Jesse, Casey, Tyler, Toni, and Damon; 12 great-grandchildren and one on-the-way.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick; his parents; his brother, Alvin; his sisters, Irene Haag, and Lillian Kastner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, ND, 58501.
