Lawrence Elmer Bushey passed away peacefully on February 16, 2017, at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND, at the age of 93, after a short illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 20, at Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Scott Bauman officiating, followed by a brunch. Spring burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Washburn, ND, where four generations of family are buried.
A prayer service will be held at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, at 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 19.
Lawrence “Larry” was born in Minneapolis, MN, on July 11, 1923, to Lawrence and Marie (Mumm) Bushey. He graduated from Kenmare High School and NDSU, Fargo. Larry married Carol Weise on August 4, 1945. Larry served three years in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed by the US Soil Conservation Service and then worked as a private land surveyor. Larry lived at home with his daughter until a week prior to his death.
Larry is survived by two sons, Bruce, Tucson, AZ, and Jon (Jenny), Salt Lake City, UT; one daughter, Lauri Desir, Bismarck; one brother, Millard, Bakersfield, CA; one sister-in-law, Helyne Wiese, Langdon; twelve beloved grandchildren living out of state; Sam Desir & Joey Desir formerly of Haiti, now Bismarck; four precious great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents, one brother, Clarence; one sister, Gladys; and one son, Robert.
Memorials to Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, Shiloh Christian School, or donor’s choice are preferred.
