Cecile was born on March 13, 1930 in Bottineau, ND, to Aldrick and Jeanette (Gillies) LaRock. She was raised in Bottineau and attended school and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Willow City, ND. Cecile then went on to attend St. Andrew's School of Nursing in Bottineau, ND, and graduated with her RN degree in 1952. She started her nursing career at Rolla Community Hospital on June 15, 1952. In April 1953 she was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Lemieux in Rolla, where they made their home. Together they raised eight children there.
Cecile continued her career at the Rolla Community Hospital for 25 years, and then she began working at the Belcourt Hospital for the next 18 years and then retired in 1993.
In retirement she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, finding a new quilt shop in her travels, and attending various community events. She was actively involved in St. Joachim church and the Altar Society. Faith was an important part of her life and who she was. She also enjoyed Tuesday afternoons with her quilting friends and her many trips to Killarney to the quilt store to shop or attend a class. She was always interested in learning, but she also enjoyed teaching her grandkids to sew, work on a project, playing a game of Sequence or just spending time with them.
In 2012 she and Hank left their beloved community of Rolla to move to Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Center in Bismarck, ND. In September of 2016, she moved to St. Gabriel's Community in Bismarck, ND.
She is survived by her children, Toby Lemieux, Boise, ID, Michael Lemieux, Deland, FL, Carol (Duane) Kaleva, Rock Lake, ND, Mary (Mike) Vandal, Bismarck, ND, Patrick (Vicki) Lemieux, Fargo, ND, Jane (Bob) Leonard, St. John, ND, Joan (George) Windus, Fargo, ND, 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sister, Mary Turner of Oregon, and her sister-in-law Alma Guilbert of Rolla.
