Clarinda "Tootsie" Heinze

January 1, 1929 — March 9, 2017

Tootsie was born on January, 1, 1929 in Bismarck, ND the youngest of 11 children born to the late M.A. and Lena (Lunstad) Lien. After attending grade school at Excelsior School No. 4, Tootsie attended Steele High School and graduated in 1946. Tootsie worked in Steele at a variety of jobs and eventually at the Steele Ozone until she retired. Tootsie married Harold Frank Heinze on September 8, 1961 and they had 2 sons, Niel and Clare. Tootsie loved spending time with her family and friends. She always looked forward to the 4th of July, so she could have everyone over for a picnic at the cabin. Tootsie was a very active member with Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting at the church. She was a great cook and an excellent lefse maker. Tootsie loved her garden and canning everything it produced. Another of her favorite past times was feeding the birds and watching them fly around her yard. Tootsie is survived by her sons, Niel (Penelope) Heinze, Mandan and Clare Heinze, Steele; three grandchildren, Rochelle, Danny, and Hannah; four great grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Angelus and Brontë; her brother-in-law, Tim White, Steele; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Harold, who died February 29, 2008; four brothers, Andy, Tilmer, Floyd and Marlyn; six sisters, Marian, Clara, Hazel, Lois, Mayvis and Lilly. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be sent to Zion Lutheran Church, 303 Main St. S. Driscoll, ND 58532 or North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th St, Mandan, ND 58554.
