She received her teaching certificate from Valley City State College and taught in a country school. Ellen married Cornelius (Connie) Driscoll June 10, 1956, in Tuttle, ND. They first lived in Mandan until moving to Bismarck in 1959. Ellen and Connie raised 4 children in Bismarck. When their youngest started school, Ellen began a long, successful career in retail sales, first with AW Lucas Co., then Eckstein’s, Herbergers, and finally Dayton’s, until retiring when they closed in Bismarck. Ellen and her entire family lived a life filled with music. From an early age she sang with her parents, her siblings and in church, later singing for many years in the Easter Cantata and the community Messiah each Christmas. One of her many passions was gardening, growing flowers, especially lovely roses of all varieties. The wonderful “rock garden” her and Connie tended to each season was well known by family, friends and was even featured locally on television. Ellen was a loving wife of 60 years and is survived by her adoring husband Connie Driscoll, and was as well a wonderful mother to Dwight (Lucy) Driscoll, Bismarck, Jeanne (Steve) Johs, Bismarck, Laurie Driscoll, Minnetonka, MN, and Darin (Tracy) Driscoll, Bismarck. She was a beloved grandmother to Stephanie (Gabriel) Gravning, Danielle (Brian) Power, Justin (Michelle) Driscoll, Shelby (Matt) Bauer, Laura Driscoll and Delayne Driscoll. She was a blessed great grandmother to Angelica, Abram and Abigail. Ellen is survived by her siblings, Milton (Darlene) Livingston, Patricia (Bob) Fennern, Kathy (Dave) Tietgens, Gary (Mary) Livingston, Rita Kleven, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings and numerous beloved family and friends, whom she now joins. Ellen would want you to walk in a garden filled with flowers and share your loving memories with someone dear to your heart, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (alzfdn.org) in Ellen’s name. A heavenly angel now rests with the Lord.
