Don D Mann

August 7, 1939 — March 23, 2017

Donald Mann went home to be with Jesus on March 23, 2017, surrounded by his family and Pastor Scott. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 28, at Charity Lutheran Church, 120 Aspen Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Scott Bauman officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, March 27, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Donald (Don) David Mann was born August 7, 1939, in Gettysburg, SD, to Clarence and Marian (Forgey) Mann. Don grew up with his older brother, Curt, and they were quite the pranksters. He graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1957. He was an accomplished athlete and also worked various jobs. Don joined the Army National Guard right after high school and served for 11 years. While in the National Guard, he also worked as the superintendent of the Gettysburg water department. Don married the love of his life Arleth (Arlie) Ann Reuer on May 1, 1960. They had three wonderful sons, Curtis Alan, Michael Ray, and Bradley Dean. They later moved to Mobridge, SD, where he owned a Standard Service Station.   They then moved to Warner, SD, in 1971 where Don went to work for Combined Insurance.   Their next move was to Bismarck, ND, in 1974 because of a promotion. In 1977, Don changed professions and joined Main & Company Realtors. He worked in insurance and real estate throughout the remainder of his career.     Don was an active member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and later became a member of Charity Lutheran Church where he led many Alpha courses and several Bible studies.   He loved his Lord and loved ushering while making sure everyone knew where they should go. He was a perfectionist in his duties. He and Arlie traveled to Guatemala with the God's Child program to build a home and share their love of the Lord. Other travels included Australia, Germany, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and Caribbean Cruises. Don loved hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, playing cards, helping Arlie garden, and entertaining family and friends.   He was awesome at woodworking and loved making Golgotha Crosses for loved ones. He also loved watching baseball and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.   Of all the things he enjoyed, he loved his family and grandchildren and all the times spent with them when they were growing up, especially all the family trips to the Black Hills making lots of memories.   He followed his son’s sports through the years and also followed his grandchildren’s sports and various activities.   He was very proud of his sons and their families.   He was always a gentleman and thought of others before he thought of himself. Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arlie; three sons, Curt (Ranita), Mike (Carrie), Brad (Jane); and six grandchildren, Brandon (Carley), Ashlee, Taylor, Scott, Jordan, Sidney, and many treasured family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marian Mann; and one brother, Curt. To View Funeral Service:  Click link below <iframe src="http://portal.midweststreams.com/services/iframe/5199" scrolling="no" width="648" height="400" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; display:block;"> </iframe>To View Prayer Service:  Click link below <iframe src="http://portal.midweststreams.com/services/iframe/5210" scrolling="no" width="648" height="400" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; display:block;"> </iframe>
