Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Franklin J. Masad was born in Fessenden, ND, September 25, 1920, to Nassif and Nellie Masad. He was raised in the McClusky area and attended school through the 8th grade. He joined the CCC's when he was 16. He then joined the US Army; he was discharged in 1943. Frankie met Lorraine Holze in the Patterson Hotel coffee shop in Bismarck. He followed Lorraine out to Seattle, WA, where they married July 2, 1944. They moved to Lodi, California. Frankie worked as a truck driver for Mayflower lines, built boilers in a boiler factory, and was a roofing and siding contractor before he and Lorraine purchased the Holiday House in Mott, ND, in 1958. Frank was blessed to have found the perfect career where he thrived serving the public and making friends with whoever came into the Hotel. He is fondly remembered with a coffee pot in one hand, a fly swatter in the other, and his high-pitched giggle over his or someone’s witty comment. Frank and Lorraine moved to Bismarck in April 2000. Frank was active in the Mott community as a city commissioner, a member of the Mott Lions, Mott Boosters, Mott Airport Authority, Mott Good Samaritan Home administrative board, and served as the chairman of the Hettinger County Fair and was on the Trinity Lutheran Church council. Any extra available time was spent playing pinochle, gin rummy, and poker with all his card-playing buddies. Frank and Lorraine had three children, Debby Masad, Bismarck, ND; Valerie (Wayne) Albrecht, Hazen, ND; and Randy (Lori) Masad, Columbia, SC. He has five grandchildren, Vivian Rios, Bismarck; Ryan (Maggie) Albrecht, Tioga, ND; Allison Albrecht, Rapid City, SD; Anthony Masad, Spirit Lake, IA; and Christopher Masad, Minneapolis, MN; and one great-grandchild due in August to Ryan and Maggie. He has one living sister, Joan, in Georgia and several nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lorraine; his parents, Nassif and Nellie Masad; his brothers Wade, Lewis, and Toy; and his sisters Sophie, Mary, and Isabel. The family would like to thank the caregivers at both Sanford on Sunset in Mandan and at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center's Westview Unit for their kind and gentle care of Dad. They made his last years more enjoyable.
