She grew up on the family farm and enjoyed helping with the farm work. She graduated from Streeter High School in 1966 and from Bernel’s Hairstyling College in 1968. Arlene owned her own beauty salon for a number of years. She was the head cook at various schools throughout her life and many say she was the very best at it.Arlene enjoyed cooking and baking and made countless wedding and birthday cakes. She made everything homemade with love. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, hearing the birds sing in the morning, and spending time with her loved ones. She was a very forgiving person with a huge heart. Arlene was the most amazing mother, grandmother, and friend anyone could ask for. She did everything for her girls and grandsons and they will forever be thankful that she was their mom.She was a very hard worker and a loving person. German was the first language she spoke. The family will always cherish the good memories that they had together; going to their rooms to find a surprise from her on their beds, learning to talk German, helping her in the garden, making German food, going on surprise trips for the weekend, and just having fun together. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and she loved God.Arlene is survived by her three daughters, Bethel of Bismarck, Antonette of Bismarck, and Catrina of Alexandria, MN; three grandsons, Adrial, Christian, and Bentley; two sisters, Joyce (Thomas) Walker of Bismarck and Gloria (Richard) Hedahl of Bismarck; two brothers, Everett (Bonnie) Wieland of Streeter and Edgar (special friend, Sandy Schatschneider) Wieland of Pelican Rapids, MN; one sister-in-law, Shirley (William) Schmidt of Juniata, NE; fifteen nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Bertha Wieland; her grandparents, Karl and Rosina Wieland and Fred and Katherine Guthmiller; two sisters-in-law, Rita Burgard and Dianne Wieland; and all of her aunts and uncles.Rest Peacefully. Ich Liebe Dich, Mama!
