Karla Schindler

Karla Dean Schindler, 85, Bismarck, passed away on April 1, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Heath.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at McCabe United Methodist Church. Burial will be at McClusky Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.Karla was born on August 13, 1931, in Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Elmer and Enga Larson. She graduated from Bismarck High School and then attended Valley City State College. She married Richard “Dick” Schindler of McClusky in 1953 and they moved to Turtle Lake, ND, where Dick was a principal and coach. Together, they had four children, Patti, Sandy, Kathy, and John. They then moved to Valley City and then Kansas City, MO, until Dick’s retirement when they returned to Bismarck.Karla loved being a homemaker, traveling, and playing bridge. She was crowned Miss Bismarck and continued a life-long love of fashion and clothes! She was a superb cook and seamstress and loved hosting family and friend gatherings.She was a member of McCabe United Methodist church, Elks, Mothers Club, and numerous bridge clubs.Karla is survived by her four children, Patti (Steve) Zimmer of Lacrosse, WA, Sandy (Al) Harvey of Cable, WI, Kathy (Jerry) Roggenbuck of Watertown, SD, and John (Brenda) Schindler of Excelsior Springs, MO; eight grandchildren, Jack (Angie) Rose, Nichole (Kyle) Harding, David (Nicole) Roggenbuck, Karla (Kevin) Stutzman, Kelly (Tyler) Lounsbery, Kasandra (Kyle) Wheeler, Katey Roggenbuck, and Morgan Schindler; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Mary) Larson and Doug (Toni) Larson; and one sister, Patricia Linzbach. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law, Jerry Rose; and one grandson, Richard Rose.In lieu of flowers, the family will be sending a memorial to CHI St. Alexius Health Dialysis Center.
