Shirley Ann Roemmich, 80, Steele, ND, died April 14, 2017, at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at St. Francis de Sales Church in Steele with Rev. Jerome Hunkler officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Eastgate Steele Chapel where a vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Shirley was born on September 2, 1936, in Harvard, NE, the daughter of Ernest Young Sr. and Mary (Leichleiter) Young. She graduated from Riverdale High School and then went on to nursing school in Wahpeton, ND. Shirley married Ray Roemmich on September 7, 1957, in Valley City, ND. Shirley worked as a LPN at several nursing homes in Bismarck and New Salem, and retired from Golden Manor in Steele.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church and Altar Society, Golden Manor Auxiliary, and Kidder County Historical Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeri (Dale) Mardikian of Lisbon, ND, Mary (David) Hruby of Fairmont, ND, and Connie (Kevin) Ness of Sauk Rapids, MN; three sons, Michael (Sylvia) Roemmich of Bowman, ND, Peter (Tim) Roemmich of Palm Springs, CA, and Charles Roemmich of Napoleon, ND; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert (Phyllis) Young, Ernest Young, Robert Young, and Sylvia Young; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Bucholtz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; one brother, Ernest Young Jr.; and two sisters, Katherine Young Nelson and Patricia Young Carmen.
