Adeline was born November 29, 1912 at her home in McClusky, ND. She was the daughter of Andrew and Tillie Melom. She attended school in McClusky and graduated with a teaching degree from Valley City Teacher’s College in Valley City, ND. She taught in a country school teaching many different grades for seven years. She married George Oxentenko on April 15, 1941, in McClusky. They lived in Minneapolis for a time where her husband founded George Oxentenko Painting. George and Adeline moved to Bismarck in 1943, where they opened Oxentenko, Inc. Adeline was the bookkeeper for their business for many years.
Adeline’s greatest joy and accomplishment were her twins Cordell and Coreen. She enjoyed every minute of raising them and loved sharing the stories of the adventures that having twins can bring. Cordell and Coreen loved their Mom, spent time with her, had coffee with her and in her later years, enabled her to stay in her own home which was her favorite place to be.
Adeline was a wonderful treat maker. She always had an assortment of goodies made and was ready to have a coffee party with her children, grandchildren or friends. We all have wonderful memories of time spent around her kitchen table with a molasses cookie, a good cup of coffee and a wonderful conversation.
Adeline loved her family very much. Spending time with them was her very favorite thing. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She would always say “They are so special”. Adeline had the sweetest spirit and was an absolute joy to everyone that she met.
Adeline left a wonderful Christian heritage to her family. Her greatest wish was to see every one of her beloved family in Heaven again someday. We will miss her greatly, but we rejoice with her that she is with Jesus today.
She will be lovingly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Don and Coreen Redmann, and daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Mark) Peterson, all of Bismarck; her grandchildren, Andy and Sheree Wesely, Reno, NV, Tom and Shellae Backman, Bismarck, Shawn and Amy Oxentenko, Rochester, MN, Dan and Tammy Sipes, Bismarck, and Trent and Melinda Redmann, Woodbury, MN; her great-grandchildren, Drew and Kino Wesely, Nicholas Wesely and Natasha Wesely, Tatiana, Arianna, Atrianna and Tanner Backman, Evan, Isaac and Abigail Oxentenko, Tanner and Caitlin Strickland, Caja Sipes and Joshua Sipes, Rylie, Joel, Elisha, Isaac and Levi Redmann and great-great grandchildren, Karli and Karter Strickland; her cousin, Joye Buckmiller; and many nieces and nephews.
