Albert Kroh

January 1, 1937 — February 21, 2019

Albert James Kroh, 82, left his earthly home to be with Jesus on February 21, 2019, with family by his side.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 27, at Evangel Church, 3225 N 14th St, Bismarck.

Visitation is from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a time of sharing will begin at 7:00 pm.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 27, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Albert was born January 1, 1937, to Alvin and Bertha (Mindt) Kroh at Blue Grass, ND. He lived and worked with his family on the Blue Grass farm until 1960 when he was called to serve in the U.S. Army.

He married his sweetheart Luella Unterseher on July 8, 1961, and they made their first home in Fort Lewis, WA. In 1963 he was discharged from the military and they made their way back to North Dakota. Four children were added to the family from 1962 to 1967, as they settled into the Bismarck-Mandan area.

Albert worked for Igoe Construction from 1963 to 1967 and then went to work for JC Penny Auto Center as a Service Manager for 15 years. In 1982 he went to work for the Bismarck Public Schools Facilities and Transportation department as the Vehicle Maintenance Coordinator. He retired from there in July 2013. In January 2019 Albert was recognized for his 31 years of outstanding service to the Facilities and Transportation department with the dedication and naming of the facility, “The Al Kroh Maintenance Shop”.

Albert’s hobbies included buying and restoring vintage cars and traveling to swap meets in other states to buy and sell tools, car parts, wheels and tires. He loved finding good deals and he was a master at negotiating for his best price. Another favorite past time was riding motorcycle. He enjoyed riding his Harley with friends and family well into his 70’s.

Albert loved spending time visiting with people, and he enjoyed his daily visits to Scheels for coffee with family and friends and to various car dealerships and auto parts stores. His generous heart led him to help many people in need over the years.

He loved his children and grandchildren (whom they called Opa) and took every opportunity to brag them up to anyone who would listen. Opa modeled for them the value of hard work and excellence in all things. His presence and automotive advice will be dearly missed by all of them.

Albert is survived by his wife, Luella Kroh; his children, Glenn (Marian) Kroh, Tamara (Troy) Barber, Bismarck; Kenneth (Kerry) Kroh, Hooksett, NH; and Terry (Laura) Kroh, Tulsa, OK; nine grandchildren, Jake, Anna, Alex, Bryttni, Cody, Steven, Justin, Peyton and Elliott; his brother Erv Kroh, and sisters Rose Voegele and Betty Aaker.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Bertha Kroh; and two brothers, Melvin and Louis Kroh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Central Dakota Humane Society, 2104 37th St, Mandan, ND 58554.
