Alden James Miller, 85, Bismarck, ND passed away 11-26-2017 following a brief illness. Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 1, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Family will greet visitors from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Thursday, November 30, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Alden was born October 4, 1932, in Bismarck, ND, to John Franklin (Frank) Miller and Marion (Morris) Miller. He was raised in Wing, ND, with his two brothers, Duane and Dwight (Bub). He served his country during the Korean War and spent many years ranching and working for Burleigh County. In 1951, he married Joan (Crimmins) and together they raised six children. In 1986 he married Viola (Ecklund) Miller. They lived in Washburn for many years before retiring and moving to Bismarck. At an early age, Alden discovered his love for ranching. He enjoyed raising and breaking horses. He loved and owned several Teams of Horses that were special to him. He always enjoyed hitching the team to the wagon to do chores or just to ride around the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marion Miller; his brother, Duane; and his late wife, Viola. He is survived by his brother Dwight (Bub) Miller, Mandan, ND., his children David (Norma) Miller, Gillette, Wy., Bradley (Cindy) Miller, Bismarck, ND., Bonnie (Mike) Aide, Bismarck, ND., Darrell Miller, Gillette, Wy., JoAl (Charles) Wagner, Maricopa, Az., and Jim Miller, Wright, Wy. , 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
