Alice Feland, 91, Bismarck, died December 15, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 21, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm Wednesday, December 20, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:30 pm. Alice was born August 7, 1926, the daughter of Paul and Amy (Briss) Frappier in Kensal, ND. She attended school and graduated from McHenry, ND. Alice went on to attend nurses training in Devils Lake and then to Fort Levenworth, KS, to work.. She later moved to Devils Lake where she worked at Mercy Hospital. Alice met Stanley Feland and they were married on December 29, 1948, in McHenry. Together they moved to Westhope where they had four children. In 1961, the family moved to Appleton, MN; and in 1962, they moved to Grand Forks, where they purchased the Lucky Inn Motel which started their career in hospitality. In 1971, they moved to Enderlin and purchased Stan’s Package Store. In 1973 they moved to Bismarck and purchased the Fleck House Motel, which Alice and her family ran until the selling of the hotel in 1995. Alice enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time in her garden and home, and in her later years, enjoyed watching sports on TV. She was an avid sports fan, her favorite teams being the NDSU Bison, Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Alice is survived by her sons, Bernie (Sue), Nome, ND, Daniel (Karen), and James, both of Bismarck; her daughter, Debbie (Dave) Meier, Parker, CO; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Clarence (Marge) Frappier, McHenry, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents; brothers, Paul Jr., Richard, and Alfred; and her sister, Evelyn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th St., Mandan, ND 58554.
