Alvina was born in Dickinson, ND, August 18, 1934, the daughter of Joe A. and Anna (Kraiter) Grossman. She attended St. Joseph school and graduated from Dickinson High School. Alvina loved her first job at the Dairy Queen, enjoying her peanut buster parfaits!   She worked for Yon Distributing, her next accounting job was working for her Dad at Grossman International. She then met the love of her life Ken in 1968 and they were married September 27, 1969. They settled in Bismarck, ND. Then they had two daughters, Kerry and Michelle, which were the joy of her life. She loved staying home and taking care of her precious daughters and wonderful husband. She enjoyed volunteering at schools and doing child care for some dear neighbor girls.

Alvina was a social butterfly, she enjoyed being on a bowling league and playing bunko where she made many dear friends. In 2001, her grandson Michael was born. She was very excited when they moved to Bismarck in the summer of 2002 so she could care for him during the day. They shared a very special bond and love for each other. He has wonderful memories of playing many board games, making play dough and going on special outings to the zoo and library. He loved eating Grandma’s delicious goodies. As Michael grew up he always came to her for advice knowing she would always listen to him and be supportive. Alvina loved traveling and sharing the stories about her adventures. She continued the tradition of traveling with her family. We had so many good times during our travels and will cherish those memories. Alvina was always about spending time together and creating fun experiences for her family.

Alvina will be remembered for her genuine love for her family and all of her friends, strong faith, beautiful smile, big heart and acts of kindness. She had an endless capacity for nurturing. She always made Holidays and Birthdays extra special for family and friends. If you were visiting around or near your birthday you were getting a cake. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She enjoyed entertaining and celebrating with friends and family. If you were Alvina’s friend you were considered family and she was always there to listen and give words of encouragement.

Alvina will be greatly missed and survived by her best friend and husband Ken of 49 years; daughters, Kerry Huravitch and Michelle Buchholz; her grandson, Michael Huravitch, the joy of her life; brothers, Joe L. Grossman (Gloria) Tioga, ND, Ken Grossman (Cheryl) Dickinson, ND, nieces, nephews; little Yorkie companion Mya; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe A. and Anna Grossman; brother, Pete Grossman; sister, Mae Grossman; and nephew, Scott Grossman.
