Ardella Schafer

Ardella Schafer, 90, Bismarck, passed away suddenly on April 10, 2018.  Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 16th at Century Baptist Church, 205 Colt Avenue, Bismarck, ND 58503.  Lunch and burial will follow. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 15th at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, ND.  Visitation will also be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Monday, April 16th at Century Baptist Church prior to services. Ardella Viola (Bauch) Schafer was born in Underwood, ND on June 28, 1927, the daughter of Aleck and Louise Bauch. Ardella married Lloyd Schafer on November 11, 1945.  They lived on a farm near Underwood, ND where they raised their son Rodney.  After retiring from farming in 1982, they moved into the city of Underwood.  Residing there until 1996 when they moved to Bismarck. Ardella was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Underwood for many years. Involved in many activities and groups. She loved to bake. Her homemade buns, kuchen, and plachindas were the best and loved by everyone.  For years she loved to crochet and make afghans. She was an avid reader, not only of the bible and devotions each and everyday but she also loved reading novels and storybooks. She enjoyed her many friends and loved to entertain with good snacks while playing fun card games. She was also very active and on the go every day, walking and taking part in select activities during the last couple of years where she lived.   Ardella is survived by her husband of 72 years, Lloyd Schafer, Bismarck, son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Jackie Schafer, St. Charles, MO, brother, Alvin Bauch, Hickory, NC. and many nieces and nephews. Ardella was proceeded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Gary and Roy and 2 sisters, Phyllis and Alice. Ardella will be deeply missed by her family and friends who loved her very much!
