Arthur Baumgartner

October 10, 1934 — February 13, 2025

Arthur Baumgartner, 90, Bismarck, passed away on February 13, 2025. 

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, 825 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck. A rosary will begin at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. 

Burial will be held at 12:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. 

Art was born on the Gussner farm off Airport Road in Bismarck, to Louie Baumgartner and Martha Barth on October 10, 1934. He attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated class of 1953 from St. Mary’s High School. 

In January 1953, Art joined the Air Force and served four years stationed in London, England. He spent three and a half years as a communication specialist. 

Art worked for the state highway department and multiple engineering firms as a land surveyor. During his later years, he worked as a maintenance man for Bismarck Public Schools, retiring at age 58. 

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Martha (Barth) Baumgartner; two sisters, Dolores Hanley and Joan Givans.

Art is survived by two sisters, Virginia Carr and Theresa Thoen; brother, Louie Baumgartner; and several nieces and nephews.
