Barbara Agnew

November 6, 1937 — June 21, 2017

Barbara Grace Agnew, (Bobbie) 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday, June 25, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Interment will be held at Menoken Cemetery following the service. Bobbie was born to Irene Tatarek and Albert Edjowski on November 6, 1937. Irene later married Art Miller, and to that union, they added 10 more children. Bobbie was raised and educated in several North Dakota towns and finished her schooling in Bismarck at St. Mary’s. Bobbie married Allan (Pat) Agnew on November 15, 1957, in Wibaux, Montana. They farmed on the family homestead up until the time of his passing in 1982. It was here on the farm she discovered her phobia for spiders and all other insects. Bobbie was a huge supporter of any and all insect eradicating products and could usually be found with a can of Raid in her hand. Bobbie loved to read and because of this, always knew more than most on any odd topic from current events to the Civil War. Her passion was cooking where she had an innate talent to throw something together and make a masterpiece. The “Yellow Kettle” was always on the stove, full and ready for anyone who might stop by. Bobbie’s famous fried chicken was also our golden ticket into all the rodeos and a few pieces of chicken to the gate man, meant a free pass for the whole family. Bobbie’s biggest gift was her ability to always tell what someone needed. An ear, a meal, a stern talking to, or whatever it may be, she knew when and how to deliver. She was a born caretaker and was a fierce and proud woman who took care of her own and all of the other people we collected over the years. Bobbie leaves behind her five children, Kelly Blotsky, Bismarck, Colleen Agnew (Monty Snyder), Baldwin, Patrick Agnew (Nadine Privratsky), Menoken, Michael Agnew, Bismarck and Jayette (Cameron) Young, Edgeley; nine grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew VerHoeven, Ashley Blotsky, Derek and Dusty Snyder, Ryan, Allison, Brogan and Taygen Young; four great-grandchildren, Cheyanne and Wyatt VerHoeven, Sierra Davenport, and Brodie Snyder; her siblings, Tom (Laurel) Miller, Libby, MT, Suzie Beard, Bismarck, Mary (Bill) Jensen, Tubac, AZ, Linda (Wendell) Vigen, Killdeer, ND, Mike (Geri) Miller, Libby, MT, Mark (Kathy) Miller, Jamestown, Marvin (Mary Jo) Miller,Billings, MT, Wendy (Pat) Falter, Jamestown; and sister-in-law, Carmen Miller, Libby, MT.  She was preceded in death by her husband Pat; her parents, Irene Miller, Albert Edjowski and Art Miller; two brothers, Jimmy and Martin Miller; two nephews, Andrew Yogerst and Cory Miller and her best friend, Muriel Schmitz, who we are sure is warming up the slot machines upstairs!
