Barbara Holwegner

Barbara (Barb) Jo Holwegner entered into the loving arms of Jesus on May 8, 2023. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 26, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 E Ave C, Bismarck.

Family will begin greeting guests one hour prior to the service.

Interment will beheld at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Barb was born to Albert and Norma Holwegner on June 23, 1955 in Minot, North Dakota. The family later moved to Harvey, Williston, and eventually settled in Bismarck. Barb graduated from Bismarck High School and went on to earn a degree in Pharmacy from North Dakota State University. Barb was a dedicated Pharmacist, retiring from CVS. 

Barb was a devoted, loving daughter and sister, who was proud of her Norwegian and German heritage. She often shared ethnic recipes and was part of the Germans from Russia organization for several years. An avid reader herself, Barb took pleasure in purchasing books as gifts for others. While Barb enjoyed the light humor of the Peanuts characters, she found hope in their Christmas messages, sharing them whenever she could.

Barb was truly a good and faithful servant for her Lord. As an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, she joyfully taught Sunday school children about the love of Jesus.  Barb continued to stay in touch with many of these students and they were referred to as ‘Barb’s kids’.  She cared deeply for those less fortunate and was always ready to offer help.  Barb said many prayers and shed many tears for those around the world who were suffering for one reason or another.  Locally, she put her knitting skills to work making hats for adults, children, and newborns who needed them.  She wanted to make sure they all were warm and had food during our cold North Dakota winters. 

Barb joins her brother, David, parents Albert and Norma, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have gone before her to worship Jesus in Heaven. She is survived by her aunt Ruth Lund, as well as many cousins and their families.
