Beatrice O. Webster, 80, Bismarck, passed away on Easter morning, April 16, 2017, at her home. She will be missed but not forgotten. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Pam Power officiating. Beatrice “Bea” Olga (Medalen) Webster was born on February 14, 1937, at Barton, ND, at the home of her parents, Chris and Harriet Medalen. She lived with her parents in the Barton and Willow City area until she graduated from Willow City High School in 1955. She then attended Trinity School of Nursing/Minot State College and graduated in 1958. After graduation, she began her career as a registered nurse. She started her nursing career as evening supervisor at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND. After moving to Bismarck, she worked at St. Alexius Medical Center, first on the medical floor as evening supervisor, and then in quality management. Bea worked at St. Alexius Medical Center for a total of 35 years. Her nursing career totals 52 years of providing care and comfort to patients in North Dakota, Minnesota, Colorado, and Montana.Bea married Mel Webster on June 10, 1961. They made their home in Minot, ND, Greeley, CO, and Kalispell, MT. In 1969 they moved to Bismarck, ND. They had two daughters, Michelle Webster of St. Paul, MN, and Amy Webster of Minnetrista, MN.Though nursing was her passion, her family was her life! She enjoyed her daughters, loved to walk, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and had a special talent for quilting. Bea made several hundred quilts during her lifetime. She also enjoyed traveling and has visited Florida, New England, California, Alaska, Minnesota, Colorado, and Canada. Bea is survived by her husband, Mel; her daughters, Amy and Michelle; three brothers, Ernest (Helen) Medalen of Minot, Curtis (Lorraine) Medalen of Minot, and David (Beverly) Medalen of Willow City, ND; four sisters, Kathleen (Frank) Lukosius of Bedford, NH, Carol (Larry) Crabbe of Minot, Marie (Charles) Jordan of Langdon, ND, and Gracia (Allen) Schepp of Clayton, CA.She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Chad Jordan.Bea requested that memorials be given to CHI St. Alexius Hospice, PO Box 5510, Bismarck, ND 58506-5510.
