Beverly Kay Bergson, 75, Bismarck, (also lovingly known as Beverly Kay from the Milky Way) passed away October 28, 2024. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 8 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior.
Beverly was born to Andrew and Hilda (Shirley) Otto on December 4, 1948 in Jamestown. She was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Jamestown High School.
She was married to J Lindstrom and together they welcomed three daughters, Lisa, Rhonda, and Lori.
Beverly was an amazing mom, and did everything she could to provide for her girls. She attended Concordia College and Moorhead State where she obtained her Masters in Social Work as well as a license in addiction counseling. Her career brought her to various places of employment, including the State Penitentiary, State Hospital, and the North Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. After her children were grown, she became a foster parent with PATH. Many of her foster kids stayed in touch with her over the years. Following retirement, she worked with people with disabilities. Beverly truly lived a life serving others. Her daughters have been stopped by strangers who’ve let them know how much Beverly changed their life for the better.
Her life spent serving others came from a place of knowing how it feels to struggle. Beverly recently celebrated 50 years of recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous. She made many lifelong friends in recovery.
In her spare time, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and playing slot machines. She enjoyed cooking and baking – just as much as her family enjoyed eating her special dishes and treats! Bev was a feisty and outspoken woman, but had a heart of gold. Each person who knew her shared a special relationship with her.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Dwight) Weisz, Rhonda Diede (Eric), and Lori Lindstrom; seven grandchildren, Brianna (Jon), Kelsey, Jayden (Brandi), Joshua (Miranda), Erika (Connor), Sierra, and Andrew; three great-grandchildren, Aubriahna, Jalynn, and Kade; her many foster children, including Lyra and Josh who maintained a special bond with her over the years; and special friend, Mike Schempp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Faith; son-in-law, Kent Diede; siblings, Patty, Carol, Jeannie, and James; and former husband, Bruce Bergson.
