Beverly Jean O’Brien, 83, died unexpectedly at her home, Calgary Ave. Bismarck, on Thanksgiving Day morning, Nov. 23, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm, Wednesday November 29, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St, Bismarck, with Rev. Jared Johnson officiating. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. The family will start greeting visitors at 6:00 pm on Tuesday November 28 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A rosary will begin at 7pm, followed by a vigil service. Beverly, their first child, was born at St. Alexius Hospital to Ray and Mary (Wagner) Henn, of Linton, ND, on April 22, 1934. Her primary education was in Linton and High School in Bismarck, graduating from SMCHS in 1952. After graduation Bev worked at SMC High School for several years before moving to St. Paul, MN. There she worked in the investment department at St. Paul Insurance Co. until her marriage to David O’Brien in May, 1981. They lived in Dickinson for a time before returning to Bismarck where they were involved in various enterprises. She returned to SMCHS as business manager, retiring May of 2004. After David’s death in 2004, she shared a new home in Boulder Ridge with her widowed sister, Rita Hunting. She is survived by sisters, Rita Hunting and Judy (Bruce) Grunefelder; brother Tom (Judy) Henn; her step children, Cheryl (Tony) Doll, Kerry (Fred) Schafer, Terry (Deb) O’Brien, Mike (Karen) O’Brien, Kathy O’Brien, Tom (Karen) O’Brien and Colleen (Scott) Lundberg as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren and nephews, Jon (Jackie) Grunefelder and Jim (Michelle) Grunefelder; and nieces Mary Beth (Brian) Schneider, Julie (Bruce) Brady, Terri (Shawn) Walthers, Lisa (Ron) Green, and Laura (Cory) Mowder. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mary; husband, Dave, brother-in-law Ed Hunting; step-son Pat O’Brien and dear granddaughter, Michaela O’Brien. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to Light of Christ Catholic Schools, 1025 N. 2nd Street, Bismarck, ND 58501
