Carol Marie Jacobson

June 4, 1936 — June 30, 2018

Carol M. Jacobson, 82, died June 30, 2018, after a brave battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, July 6, at Charity Lutheran Church, 120 Aspen Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Scott Bauman officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, July 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave, Bismarck. Graveside services will be at 9:00 am Friday, July 6, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Carol was born June 4, 1936, to Thor and Thea (Olson) Rosenvold in Wildrose, ND, and was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Williston High School in 1954. On December 5, 1969, Carol married the love of her life, Rodney Jacobson, in Minot, ND. They made their home in Bismarck and shared a life rich in blessings. Carol was fiercely loyal to her faith and family, and embraced life with enthusiasm and optimism. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and passed that on to her children and grandchildren. Carol never wavered in her faith and cherished her church family. It is a comfort to know she is so happy in Heaven with her beloved husband, Rod. Carol loved her country and was so grateful to be an American. She frequently reminded everyone to give thanks to the veterans who have fought for our freedoms. She loved her Duke basketball, Green Bay Packers, and any team her grandchildren were part of. Carol and Rod loved history and made several journeys on Old West trails seeking tales, treasures, and special one-of-a-kind antiques. They also loved to travel with their whole family to Big Sky, Montana for beautiful, memorable Christmases and vacations. Their children and grandchildren will never forget those special celebrations. Carol was forever passionate for learning new things. Her technology skills on the internet and her cell phone made her an avid shopper and extraordinary communicator. Her family will miss here texts in all caps which expressed her enthusiasm, and Amazon will miss their best customer. Carol and Rod were very proud of their grandchildren. If allowed, she would talk endlessly about their attributes and accomplishments. Each one of them knew their Gramma loved them more than anything. Carol is survived by her three sons, Larry (Cindy) LaBere, Bismarck, Mike (Cindy) LaBere, Bismarck, and Mark (Lori) LaBere, Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter, Michelle (Kent) Diehl, Scottsdale, AZ; her grandchildren, Derek (Heather) LaBere, Daren (Carly) LaBere, Lars (Erin) LaBere, Ryan (Tabetha) LaBere, Brent (Kelsey) LaBere, Jared (Taylor) LaBere, Stefan (Brenna) LaBere, Carrie Jo (Josiah) Thunshelle, Thea (Kyle) Wickey, Jacob Geiermann, Anna Geiermann, Rikka (Ty) Bilden, and Grace Geiermann; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Jacobson; her parents; and one sister.
