Carol Ann Myers, the daughter of Walter Clare Myers and Mildred Louise Myers, was born on November 6, 1943, in Graettinger, IA. At the age of 6, Carol’s family moved to a farm near Rogers, ND, where she worked from a young age helping on the farm and then working in the family grocery store and meat locker. In 1960 Carol’s high school basketball team won the state championship with Carol making lifelong friendships. Carol graduated in 1961 and went on to Valley City State Teachers College graduating with a degree in English and Physical Education. After graduating she taught for one year in Alexander, ND, where she met her future husband, Arthur Neer. Arthur was hot-rodding around town and hit Carol’s car with rocks. Carol chased Arthur down in her car and told him he had cracked her windshield and she needed his insurance information. Little did Arthur know it was already broken, but not by him. Art and Carol were married August 25, 1965, at Fort Polk, LA, where Art was stationed. While Art was deployed to Germany, Carol was living with her parents in Valley City, ND and gave birth to their first child, Alan. When Art returned they lived in Killeen, TX, outside of Fort Hood Army Base. On their move to Williston, ND, Carol was unable to travel and they had to stop in Cedar Rapids, IA, where she gave birth to their second son, Tory. Once they were back in Williston, Carol gave birth to their third son, Daniel. Art was then transferred to Bismarck, where they had their fourth child, Crystal. Carol worked part-time at LaBelle and JC Penny, and then worked full-time as the manager of Gateway Bingo. Carol’s most important job was being a full-time Grandma, helping watch her grandchildren anytime she was needed. She took great joy in watching and cheering on her children with their sports and then later her grandchildren attending hundreds of wrestling matches, basketball games, and football games. Carol and Art became fans of a new sport, team roping, and traveled to watch their granddaughters’ rope. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, spending time with her family and WINNING at Bingo. Carol is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arthur; her sons, Alan (Lori) Neer, East Grand Forks, MN, Tory (Chris) Neer, Bradenton, FL, Daniel Neer, Bismarck; her daughter, Crystal (Marty) Beard, Bismarck; her beloved grandchildren, Melody, Alan Lee, Zach, Seth, Izec, Heather, Samantha, Austin, Saje, and Mardi Jo; ten great-grandchildren with one due in December; her brothers, John Myers and Wayne Myers; her sister, Karen Mahan; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Claire Myers and Mildred Louise Myers; two brothers, James Myers and Merle Myers; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Neer and Sylvia Neer.
