Carolyn Schreiber, who just turned 81 the day before her passing, died on October 24, 2020 due to COVID-19. Private funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. A livestream will be available on the funeral home’s website.
Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Carol was born to Andrew and Angeline Wentz on Oct. 23, 1939. Carolyn grew up on the farm with her brothers and sisters. She attended school, graduating from Notre Dame Academy in 1958 in Willow City.
On May 31, 1961 Carolyn married Clayton Schreiber. Together, they built a family of five children and raised them on Tuxedo Road in Minot. The Catholic faith was important to her. She participated in various church activities and enjoyed playing cards with friends. In 2012, Carol and Clayton moved to Summerset. Initially, she settled in and adapted well. However, the last several years of aging were not easy on her. As her mind and body failed, she easily succumbed to COVID-19. It is in the honor of Carolyn’s memory that family requests that you wear a mask and wash your hands often – to protect not only yourself but the ones you love.
Carol was a small and quiet woman. For many, she could’ve been mistaken as a mouse in the corner; however, whatever you could say about her, she was a great listener and strong in her faith. She may have not been a great conversationalist, but she always enjoyed being in your presence.
She is survived by her daughters, Colette (Arno) Rudolph, Cheryl (Dan) Haugen and Charlotte Summerfeld; sons, Charles (LaDonna) Schreiber and Curtis (Michelle) Schreiber; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; parents, Andrew and Angeline; and brother, Pius.
