Catherine “Katie” Meier, 85, Bismarck, formerly of Lemmon, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, with her family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 20, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St., Bismarck, with Rev. Greg Luger officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Friday, January 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Catherine Elizabeth was born December 15, 1932, to Frank and Celestine (Friedt) Mosbrucker, at the family farm north of Burt, ND. She attended Steiner Township School and Mott Lincoln High School. She worked as a clerk at the Red Owl grocery store in Mott. Catherine was united in marriage to Joseph Meier on September 24, 1951, at St. Placidus Catholic Church. They began their life together in Lemmon, SD, where Joe owned the Coast to Coast store. They worked side by side in the store until they sold it in 1984. Catherine then worked at Wheelers Manufacturing for 13 years, retiring in 2000. In 2001, they moved to Bismarck, ND. Katie was a kind soul who loved to have coffee and visit with friends. She would never turn down an opportunity to shop. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, embroidering, and reading. Grateful for having shared her life is her son, Curt (Sandee) Meier, Box Elder, SD, and her daughter, Carrie (Craig) Willits, Bismarck; seven grandsons, Joseph Meier (fiancée, Lexi), Box Elder, SD, Derek (Kamara) Meier, Box Elder, SD, Cameron (Caitlyn) Meier, Honolulu, HI, Cody Willits, Bismarck, Connor Willits, Grand Forks, Chase Willits (fiancée, Alex), Bismarck, and Christopher Willits, Bismarck; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Aggie Meier, Mott, Regina (Tom) Nistler, Devils Lake, Vince (Cheryl) Mosbrucker, Dickinson, Vic (Donna) Mosbrucker, Riverton, WY, Margie Katus, Watauga, SD, Pat (Anna) Mosbrucker, Riverton, WY, Larry (Sandy) Mosbrucker, Gilford, NH, and Eugene Mosbrucker, Colesville, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Meier; her parents, Frank and Celestine Mosbrucker; and an infant brother, Linus.
