Charles (Chuck) Mitchel, 95, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on June 1, 2017.Services will be held at 9:00 am Monday, June 5, at McCabe United Methodist Church, 1030 N 6th St., Bismarck, with Rev. Mark Ehrmantraut officiating.Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday, June 4, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a Masonic service will begin at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue from 8:15 am – 8:45 am Monday at the church.Chuck was born in Mott, ND, on June 12, 1921, to Fred and Martha Mitchel and spent his childhood working on their family farm, the Cannonball River Ranch. He graduated from Mott High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree at NDSU in Fargo, and a Master’s degree at Colorado State University. Chuck served in the Navy during World War II.On June 4, 1944, he married Florence Halbett in the Mott Methodist Church. Theirs was a happily-ever-after marriage filled with many joyous times with family and friends. As a long-time bank loan officer, Chuck successfully served the farmers of North Dakota, always going the extra mile to understand the farming community and its needs. Being civic minded, he served on many city and church committees; including Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, United Fund Chairman, Public Library Board, Burleigh County Board of Housing, the Church Foundation, Entrepreneur of the Junior Achievement program, and taught business/financial classes at BSC. He was most proud of being a member of the Masonic Lodge and an El Zagel Plainsmen Shriner.Although he had many hobbies, including travel, horticulture, carpentry/woodworking, creating stained glass artwork and collecting/refurbishing antiques, his family always came first.Chuck’s legacy of love, devotion, and service will live on in the lives of his loving wife of 73 years, Florence, and their daughters, Sandra (Jack), and Rynell; five grandchildren, Deborah (David), Tamara (Nathan), Gregg (Holly), Eric (Andrea), and Scott (deceased); eight great-grandchildren, Spencer, Brayden, Kaitlin, Bryson, Tyler, Kelsie, Brigg, and Jack.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to www.shrinershospitalforchildren.org
