Christine Hartze, 85, Bismarck, died July 12, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck, after a courageous battle with ALS.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, July 17, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E. Broadway Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating.Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday, July 16, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm.Graveside services will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.Christine was born January 6, 1932, in Logan County, ND, the daughter of Albert and Agatha (Wald) Brendel. She attended school there and graduated from Napoleon. Christine married Paul Hartze on October 28, 1957. They were blessed with six children. Christine enjoyed her children, nieces and nephews, cooking, gardening, taking care of the farm and running after grandchildren. Christine had a strong Catholic faith-she was a prayer warrior.Christine is survived by her children and grandchildren, Duane (Donna) and children, Diego and Damien; Richard (Patty) and children, Brittaney (Josh) and great-grandson, Nash, Caitlin (Tyson); Laure Turner (Phil) and daughter, Christie (Keith); Paulette (Dan) Jacobsen and children, Shannon (Matt), and Declan; Gerard (Katherine) and daughter, Ashley; Greg (Jen) and children, Morgan and Macy.She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son-in-law, Ronald K. Turner; parents; and all of her siblings.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ALS research or Gregorian masses.The family wishes to give a special thanks to CHI St. Alexius staff for their care and compassion they showed our mother and our family.
