Clementine (Goldade) Kottenbrock was born on October 29, 1928, to Joseph and Susan (Hipfner) Goldade in Beulah, ND. She was raised on a farm south of Beulah and educated at a local rural school, where she completed her education through the eighth grade.
Clementine married Harold Kottenbrock on June 5, 1951. Shortly after their marriage, Harold was called to serve his country, and during his absence, Clementine spent much of her time with her older sister, Florence (Walt) Keogh, in Montana. After Harold's return, the couple moved to Bismarck, where they raised their family of six children. In recognition of their strong family values, Harold and Clementine were honored with the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree "Family of the Year" award in 2000. They made a donation by providing the flagpole for the St Annes Church entrance and by attending many council functions. Harold passed away on February 5, 2017.
Clementine worked for many years at Casa Del Ray as a server and bartender. She also volunteered at Medcenter One and was a longtime supporter of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she could always be found helping at the parish carnival, particularly serving up potatoes. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the National Council of Catholic Women. In 1976, Clementine proudly earned her GED.
A woman of many talents, Clementine loved dancing, baking, and hosting holiday gatherings. She was known for her attention to detail, always ensuring that everything was just right especially when it came to presentation. Special requests for her homemade buns and peach kuchen were always met with love and care.
Clementine is survived by her children: Loell (Duane) Portscheller, Deborah Leingang, Jeffery "JJ" (Kathy) Kottenbrock, and MaryJane "MJ"(Clark) Aman, all of Bismarck; sisters Marian "Mary" Teske of Washington, Helen Jensen of Wisconsin, and Marlene Hoffman of Wyoming; 10 grandchildren: Peggy Sue, Bobbi Jo, Billi Jean, BJ, Mandi, Jesse, Casey, Tyler, Toni, and Damon; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; sons, Patrick and Joseph; sisters, Florence Keogh, Ida Teske, Pauline Pischel, and Annie Grosz; and brothers, Steve and Jake Goldade.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Bismarck Baptist Home for their compassionate care of Clementine during her seven years there. The nurses, pastor, and all the staff went above and beyond to ensure her comfort and well-being. Their kindness and professionalism provided Clementine with a sense of peace, and we are deeply grateful for the love and attention she received during her final years.
