Clifford Dobitz

Clifford Peter Dobitz, 81, passed away with family by his side on January 20, 2024 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. 

A Time of Gathering will be held from 10:00-11:30 AM, Friday, Feb. 2, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck. 

Burial will be held at 12:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. 

Cliff was born to John and Katie Dobitz on April 15, 1942 in rural Regent, North Dakota. He was the youngest of 10 children. 

Cliff attended Dickinson High School. In 1967 he got his Business Administration at North Dakota State University. Moving onto 1968 getting his Masters in Economics at North Dakota State University. Cliff then moved to Colorado State University to get his PhD in Economics. 

Cliff served in the Army for four years prior to college. 

On June 18, 1968 Cliff was united in marriage to Carol (Glasser) in Dickinson, ND. Together they lived in North Dakota, Colorado, Arizona, and Minnesota. 

Cliff had a strong love for education and shared that with others. He was a professor of Economics at NDSU for 30 years. He loved his students and impacted many who after graduation kept in touch. He looked forward to Saturdays in the fall to watch Bison football. 

Cliff was an avid runner and competed in marathons. His hobbies included watching the market rise and fall and buying and selling vehicles. Cliff and Carol also did some RV traveling. 

Cliff continued to be active walking and biking and meeting friends at McDonalds some mornings. He had a love for McDonalds, but only their dollar menu and the senior citizens discount on a small pop. 

Cliff most recently was living in Surprse, AZ where he enjoyed the weather, watching golfers, and being outside. 

Cliff and Carol had a son, Dean (Aleecia), and three grandchildren who he adored, Presley, Eli, and Easton. Cliff was eager to bestow his financial wisdom with them. 

Cliff is survived by his son, Dean (Aleecia); three grandchildren; sister, Charlotte; sister-in-law, Gloria (Larry); and many nieces and nephews. 

Cliff is now reunited with Carol. Both are loved and will be forever in our hearts. 

Cliff was preceded in death by his wife, Carol of 53 years, parents; eight brothers, Carl, Kenneth, John, Joe, Vernon, Albert, Fred, and Herb.
