Cody Carnes

December 7, 1989 — January 10, 2020

Cody Carnes, 30, Bismarck, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020.

A celebration of Cody's life will be on Saturday, January 18, 2020 starting with a visitation at noon, a service at 1:00 pm, with a time of fellowship to follow, all at Parkway Funeral Home, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Cody was born on Pearl Harbor Day — December 7, 1989 — in New Braunfels, TX. His family lived in various places before moving to Bismarck in 1995. Cody attended Solheim Elementary, Wachter Middle School, and Bismarck High School. In middle school, he was on the football, basketball, and baseball teams. Cody worked at Eide Chrysler for two years and was also a cook at Minerva’s for many years.

Cody was a 6'4 teddy bear with a heart of gold. He enjoyed fishing, music, and playing poker. Cody was very technologically advanced, and would often take computers apart, fix them, and put them back together. Though he didn’t have any children of his own, he adored his “Baby Girl", Phoebe; she held a special place in Cody’s heart, and they were never without each other. Cody was also a very proud uncle. He enjoyed taking his niece and nephews camping and fishing, and they loved going to the movies.

His family is very grateful to The Heartview Foundation for helping Cody achieve sobriety on June 18, 2016. It is because of this that they were able to make such fond memories over the last several years. In lieu of flowers, they are asking that you make a donation to The Heartview Foundation or another substance abuse treatment center or mental health facility of your choice.

Cody is survived by his beloved fur baby, Phoebe; his parents, Jackie Bius, Bismarck, and Dan Diebel, Mandan; sister, Ashlie Carnes, Bismarck; niece and nephews, Ledger, Emmarie, and Brennin Carnes; cousin and best friend, Brittany Schneider, Lincoln; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fayette and Betty Bius; paternal grandparents, Richard and Gen Diebel; maternal aunt, Jolynn Grant; maternal uncle, Franklin Grant; and half-sister, Samantha Carnes.
