She was born on November 11, 1935 to Cletus and Magdalena (Rohrich) Regner in Napoleon, ND, and was a long-time resident of Steele, ND. Coletta married Nick W. Kalainov on August 7, 1952. To this union five children were born: Nicolyn, Ronald, Pam, Kim, and Jan. They raised their family on a farm north of Steele. Upon retirement, Ron bought the farm. Nick passed away in 2009.
Coletta loved to bake and cook wonderful meals for her family and friends. Most days, her children were greeted with the smell of cookies, pies, or cakes as they got home from school. She was a fun, loving mother who was often willing to take them on a picnic at the lake or sledding in the winter time. She took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always remembering their birthdays. As a hobby, she enjoyed bowling and won many awards. Also, she enjoyed card parties with friends and family, crossword puzzles, and watching game shows on TV. She was never idle, always finding ways to help others.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society and various other areas until her health would no longer permit.
