Connie Kay Morris, 76, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, from a heart condition and complications relating to Small Cell Carcinoma.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 7, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.
Connie was a no-nonsense, common sense, practical woman who was an inquisitive problem solver with midwestern roots.
Born on March 24, 1948, in Norton, Kansas, she grew up with her two sisters and brother.
After high school, she eventually moved to Minneapolis with her childhood best friend, where she met her former husband, Terry Morris. They were married for over 30 years and had two kids, Troy and Stacy; and five grandchildren. They eventually moved to Tumwater, Washington where they were involved in the horse community.
She loved riding and caring for her horses, Mr. C and Gala. She worked for the Olympia School District for about 25 years before retiring. She purchased her own lovely little home in Shelton, Washington and thrived doing projects around the house, gardening, and helping friends on their home projects. She loved cats, and over the years she would rescue feral cats who would find their way to her. It would take months to gain their trust, but eventually she would move them inside for the winter. Most recently she took in “Cat and Scaredy Cat”. She enjoyed taking trips to visit her mom and sisters in Norton, Kansas, son in Bismarck, and daughter in California.
Connie eventually moved back to Bismarck to be with her son’s family to help care of her medical needs. Connie was a good mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Fredde and Walta Russ, Dude Russ; and sister, Lova Perkins, Kansas.
Connie is survived by her son’s family, Troy and Connie L. Morris, Jasmyne and Theron Morris-Humphrey, and Keenan Morris; her daughter’s family, Stacy and John Markulis, Chris and Mariana Markulis, Alexandra, James and one great grandchild, Gemma Markulis and another one due to arrive mid-November; her sister, Terri Dale (Ned) Capps of Kirwin, Kansas; and brother, Walter Russ of Lenora, Kansas; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Her wishes were to be buried in Norton, Kansas, alongside her mother. She will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to be in her life. May she rest in peace.
