Corrine was born to William “Bill” and Caroline (Huber) Erdman on October 12th, 1930 on a farm north of Dodge, ND. She was raised and educated in the Golden Valley area, where she was valedictorian of her class. On April 13th, 1948 Corrine was married to Howard E. Krein in Hazen, ND. After their marriage, they lived in Beulah, ND for four years before moving to the Bismarck-Mandan area. Corrine worked side by side with Howard in the Home Building Industry. They then founded H & L Sharpening & Tools, which they owned and operated until they retired in 1990. Corrine stayed on as the bookkeeper of H & L until 2008. She also worked at Simile Junior High School from 1990-1999 as a cook.
Corrine was a member and one of the pianists for Calvary Free Lutheran Church. She was an active member of her church and was devoted to following Jesus, her faith in Christ defined her and was reflected in the way she lived her life. She loved to play dominoes with her friends every Friday night, often staying out until way past her bedtime. Corrine had one of the greenest thumbs around and enjoyed gardening and tending to her house plants. Her and Howard would harvest their garden to can and preserve for the winter. After Howard passed away, Corrine stayed on the family farm where she enjoyed gardening, her animals and visits from her family and friends. Corrine was able to stay on the farm with the assistance of her sons Leland and Lloyd who continued to help her with all the yard work and upkeep of the farm, they made sure she made it to all of her appointments, church every Sunday where she enjoyed her Pastor, and going to lunch with family and friends afterwards. She looked forward to going on road trips with them, especially her yearly trip to Medora and to Sioux Falls, SD, to visit her daughter and family.
The last few years of her life were spent in South Dakota, where she led an active social life of: going to craft fairs, talking to her friends at Washington Crossing, going to band concerts, shopping at various stores, and visiting every greenhouse in the area surrounding Sioux Falls. Even to the end Corrine kept her great sense of humor. Corrine was blessed with many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, whom she enjoyed spending time with.
