Darlene was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Jamestown to Adam and Sophia (Bitz) Metzger. She graduated from Jamestown High School. In August of 1960 she married the love of her life, Elroy Enzminger. They lived in Jamestown until 1969, when they moved to Moorhead, MN. There she focused on raising her three children and being involved in their school and church activities. They lived in Ada, MN, from 1975-78 where they owned Ele’s Amoco station and she helped out by doing the bookkeeping. When the family moved to Bismarck she worked for the state of ND until her retirement in 2007.
Darlene and Elroy loved traveling with their family. They took many trips together and did lots of camping. Later in life, they loved going on cruises and enjoying Southern Gospel music conventions. After Elroy’s passing she continued the legacy of traveling and cruising with her family, including a trip to Israel.
One of her greatest passions was spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
They enjoyed many cookies and German goodies baked by grandma and hidden in her freezer. They loved playing games with her. She also loved gardening and canning all the produce from her gardens.
All else in her life was eclipsed by one thing: Her love for Jesus and her desire to reflect that love to those around her.
