Darlene Johnson

Darlene Inga Johnson, 86, passed away on August 1, 2024. 

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM, Monday, August 5, at Touchmark on West Century, 1000 W Century, Bismarck.

Burial will be held at the Dazey Cemetery, Dazey, ND.

Darlene was born on April 8, 1938, to Donald and Dorothy Anderson. She grew up on a farm near Dazey, ND, where she helped milk the cows and cook meals. 

Darlene was baptized on October 2, 1938, and confirmed in faith at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on October 2, 1958.

She graduated from Dazey High School in 1956. Darlene was active in school activities such as basketball, cheerleading, and track. Following high school, she was one of the International Farm Trainees who left for Great Britain. Her experiences and travels there were some of the highlights of her life. 

Darlene took interest in cooking, sewing, needlework, cake decorating, painting, camping, dancing, cross country skiing, shooting pool, attending the grandchildren’s activities, Medora Musicals, Hostfest, light houses, listening to the water flow, visiting with people she would meet, and listening to Lloyd play music.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Lloyd Johnson; her daughter and son-in-law, ZoeAnn and Vernon Henke; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law; two sisters and brothers-in-law; six step children; twenty step grandchildren; and thirty-three step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna and Delois; sons, Clay and David Tolstad; two brothers-in-law, David and Digger; nephew, Ron; and niece, Diane.
