Darrel E. Simons

Darrel Edwards Simons, 76, passed away on October 3, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Bismarck, ND. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 10th, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 9th, at Parkway Funeral Service. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 PM.

Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Darrel was born in Bismarck on July 7, 1948, to Ray and Billie Simons. He was raised on the family farm in Baldwin, ND. He attended country grade school and graduated from Bismarck High school. Darrel spent some time living in California and eventually returned to North Dakota to work on the family farm. Darrel married the love of his life Linda Kraft on August 26, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND. 

Darrel worked on the family farm with his parents and brothers. He also worked numerous different jobs as a carpenter until the later part of his working years as an assembler until his retirement. 

Darrel knew how to have a good time and enjoyed life. He loved to do many different things including working with and riding horses, farming and ranching, hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards, and spending quality time visiting with family and friends. He and Linda enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions looking for the next good deal. He took pride in taking good care of his house, yard, vehicles and everything he owned. Unfortunately, Darrel and Linda both suffered with chronic diseases but took care of each other until they no longer could and moved to St. Vincent’s Nursing home in 2023 where they shared a room. When entering their room, you would find them sitting next to each other holding hands in their recliners. Even after Linda’s passing, Darrel kept his left hand on the arm of Linda’s chair as if she were still there. They are now together again.

Darrel is survived three brothers, Arlen (Shirley) Simons, Curt (Mary) Simons, both of Baldwin, ND and Ron (SueAnn) Simons, Lincoln, CA. Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Simons; his parents, Ray and Billie Simons; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Anton and Marie Kraft.
