Dave Richter

Dave Richter, 69, Bismarck, passed away in his home on May 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 5th at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Fellowship will take place following services.

Dave was born February 5, 1954 in Linton, North Dakota to Leo and Luella (Bickler) Richter. He was the second oldest of six siblings. After graduating high school in Linton, he attended the same technical school in Fargo as his grandfather for auto body. He then moved to Bismarck where he met the love of his life Susan Ulrich, and they were married in 1983. They lived on a 40-acre hobby farm north of Bismarck for many years, which is where they started their family.

Dave’s time on earth was spent living in the moment and blessing his loved ones with his humor and constant presence. He enjoyed spending time outdoors through camping trips, fishing, gardening and kayaking. In his life Dave built several homes for family and assisted with many projects in his kids’ homes as well. His legacy lives on through his incredible self-taught carpentry skills. He loved nothing more than his family.

He is survived by his wife Susan; his children, Jason (Lacey), Bismarck; Michael, Bismarck; Brittney (Tommy), Fargo and  grandchildren Jada (11), Isla (6), and Evie (4). He is further survived by his siblings Tom, Jim, Mary, Jon and their families; his father-in-law, Jim; and his spouse’s siblings, Larry, Gail, Clay, Dennis and their families.

He is reunited in Heaven with his father, Leo; mother, Luella; brother, Paul; mother-in-law, Leona Ulrich; sister-in-law, Paulette Doll, and numerous other family members.

Dave leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
