Dave Walth, 53, Bismarck, passed away July 27, 2024 of an unexpected cardiac event. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 5 at GracePoint Church, 205 43rd Ave NE, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

David James was born on August 1, 1970 to Jim and Bev (Brinkman) in Mandan. He was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating with the Class of ’89. From an early age, Dave loved spending time outdoors, farming and hunting with his dad. He enjoyed snowmobiling, down hill skiing and being a part of ski patrol.

Following graduation, Dave attended Wahpeton State School of Science and obtained his associate’s degree. He began employment with Capital City Construction and later worked for Chevron. His most rewarding career came when he had the opportunity to work with his idol, his dad Jim. Dave started working in the family business for Gray Oil Co in Mandan. After Dave took over ownership, he was dedicated to keeping the business running just as his dad did.

At a young age, Dave volunteered as a rural firefighter and EMT. For 28 years, Dave served as Captain for the Mandan Fire Department. Dave had a selfless and easy-going personality – naturally, he found purpose in helping others during moments of crisis.

On May 2, 2015, Dave married the love of his life, Bree, in Bismarck. He was an amazing, supportive dad who was always there for Austin, Bella and Paxton. The two enjoyed travelling and attending Austin's tennis, Bella's track, cross country and hockey, and Paxton's baseball, hockey and football. The family enjoyed spending time with friends together on the pontoon and at the lake. Dave was a family man, a great friend and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Dave was known for his love of grilling – including smoking meat. If there were any trips planned, Dave already had scoped out all of the restaurants in the area and let the family know where they’d be eating on the trip.

Dave loved his motorcycle club, Fire and Iron. Over the years, he served as President and an officer of the club. Dave and Bree loved their trips down to Sturgis. Recently, Dave upgraded his bike to the custom Harley Davidson of his dreams.

When Dave wasn't dropping everything to help others, you would find him watching his kids' sports, making something delicious on his smoker, entertaining friends or some sort of project he could find.

Dave is survived by his wife, Bree; children, Austin, Bella and Paxton; mother, Beverly Walth; sister, Deanna (Randy) Meissner; parents-in-law, Walt and Judy Vollmers; brothers-in-law, Matt (Jill) Vollmers and Tyler (Angie) Vollmers and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who he loved so much. He was preceded in death by his dad, Jim; and his grandparents.

Dave had the best gift of making everyone around him feel loved and seen. Your gentle kindness and warm hugs will be missed every day.

Rest in peace, Sweet Dave.

Dave’s children meant the world to him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be established to Dave’s children for their future educational needs. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to The Walth Family, c/o Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck, ND 58501.
