David Ned Asplund, 88, Wilton, ND, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 29, 2018. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 3, at Mission Evangelical Free Church, Wilton, with Rev. Russell G. Whitaker Jr., officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, November 2, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at Mission Cemetery. David was born on January 31, 1930, to Ned and Mabel (Bergquist) Asplund in Washburn, ND, and lived on the Asplund homeplace. After graduating from Bismarck High School, he attended Chicago Evangelistic Institute in Chicago, IL, where he met Gladys Parsonson. They were married on July 19, 1952, and lived on the homeplace for a short time, before buying the Fred Johnson farm where he lived from 1954 to the present. David retired from farming in 1994. David’s life was centered on his faith in Jesus Christ. He leaves a legacy of commitment to God, and faithful service to his church and community for his children and others to follow. Throughout his life he served on many boards and committees for the Mission Evangelical Free Church in Wilton, Gideons International, Steer, Inc., KNDR Radio, Grass Lake Township, and Farmers Union. David was preceded in death by his parents; Gladys in 1968; and Ruth Palmquist Asplund (whom he married in 1986) in 2007. David is survived by his wife, Carol (married October 23, 2010) and her family; his children, Lynndell, Mark (Vera), Sharon; his grandchildren, Michael (Kathy) Asplund, Melanie (Derek) Taylor, Daniel (Bernice) Asplund; his great-grandson, Jayce; his brother, Paul (Bernice) Asplund; and Ruth’s family.
