Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 14, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Ave., Bismarck. David was born on October 3, 1949, to Edward and Marjorie (Saufley) Kraning in LaMoure, ND, the second of three boys. He graduated from LaMoure High School, where he met Jeanette Schuck (“that damn little Schuck girl.”) After graduating high school, he graduated from NDSSS in Wahpeton, ND, and earned a degree in heating and air conditioning. Dave and Jeanette were married in Aberdeen, SD, on November 26, 1969. Together they had three daughters, Kerry, Kim, and Maria. Even though Dave had girls he still had them outside or in the “shed” fixing or building something. Dave was a sheet metal worker for 25-plus years, where he made many lifelong friends. He later worked at Melroe/Bobcat which he hated every minute of (we promised we would put that in his obituary) until he retired and then you could always find him in his beloved garage tinkering with many assorted projects. Dave never lost his sense of humor or wit, even at the very end. The light of Dave’s life was his grandkids. He always had chocolate, cookies, sugar filled goodies, a crooked smile and a warm hug always waiting for them in the garage and they knew it. Dave leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Jeanette (Schuck) Kraning, Bismarck; his three daughters, Kerry (Lyle) Swanson, Braddock, ND, Kim (Jaime) Leingang, Lincoln, ND, and Maria (Jason) Koehn, Stanley, ND; seven grandchildren; Jazzy and Derrik (Kim), Bismarck, ND, Lauren and Lindsey (Kerry), Braddock, ND, Karlei and Kylei (Kim), Lincoln, ND, and Gracie (Maria), Stanley, ND; two brothers, Greg Kraning (Marilyn), Alexandria, MN, and Keith (Caroline) Kraning, Leonard, ND; and numerous friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; and numerous aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends.
