David J. Nordstrom, 60, passed away peacefully in his home in Bismarck. His family members are planning a private service. Dave was born July 2, 1956, in Bismarck, to Robert and Florence Nordstrom. He was the fourth child in the family with four brothers and one sister. He attended Richholt Elementary School and Simle Junior High. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1974. He and his brothers spent many summers working for Cashman Nursery, selling and planting trees. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and worked most of his career at St. Alexius Medical Center. He primarily provided care in the inpatient operating rooms, the ICU, and outpatient surgery. He also served as the Education Coordinator for Surgery, and was in charge of CPR and ACLS classes for hospital employees. Dave had many interesting hobbies. He was an avid reader on many topics. He enjoyed the outdoors and collected fossils and rocks. He and Connie enjoyed long bike rides along the river and in the Fort Lincoln park area. He liked bird watching, especially going to Long Lake in the fall and spring to see the shore birds. He enjoyed exploring locally and had a great sense of adventure, always looking for the best trails to hike. He had an extensive collection of unusual plants including miniature orchids and succulents. He kept two aquariums and filled them with unique fish. He enjoyed watching sports, especially NDSU Bison football, UND Hockey, BHS football, and wrestling. Dave is survived by his siblings, Donald Nordstrom of Spencer, IA, Jim Nordstrom of Overland Park, KS, Kathleen Nordstrom of Dodge Center, MN; and his close friend, Connie Zahn of Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Bob Nordstrom and Ron Nordstrom.
