David Scott Paulson, 86, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on March 2, 2023, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 18, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave, Bismarck. A livestream of the service will be available at https://www.youtube.com/@GoodShepherdLutheranChurch/streams
David was born Jan. 18, 1937, to Lloyd and Cloris Paulson in Watertown, SD. He grew up on the a farm outside of Hayti, SD, where he played center for the basketball team and worked hard on the family farm.
He married the love of his life, Kathleen Kay Koenders, on Oct. 6, 1956. Kay and David welcomed three daughters to their home and soon moved to North Dakota.
David retired from Northwestern Federal Savings Bank in 1996 as president of the bank. He was a member of the Elks and participated for many years with the Elks chorus. Dave and Kay were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church while in Bismarck and Calgary and Peace Lutheran Churches in Park Rapids.
After retirement Dave and Kay enjoyed many years at their lake home and winter home in Texas. His family appreciates the support and wisdom he gave them throughout his life.
David is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kay; his daughters, Kim (Mike) Rambur, Terri (Jim) Camp and Pam Aasen; his grandchildren, Nicki (Ryan) Williams, Jeff (Tawny) Camp, Jenny (Brock) Johnson, Katie Rambur, Andy Aasen and Rosie Aasen; eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Bridget, Hudson, Emmitt, Lucy, Bria, Rylee and Jersey; his sisters, Joanne Jensen and Jeanne (Paul) Persing; sister-in-law, Judy (Ken) Bevers, brothers-in-law, Denny, Rich (Isis) and Tony (Cindy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Don and Monica Koenders; brothers-in-law, Greg Koenders, Gerry Koenders and Eldon Jenson.
The family prefers memorials go the the charity of the donor’s choice.
David’s legacy was to work hard, be honest and be humble and to love all your family and friends.
