Debra L. Emerson, 67, Bismarck, died October 28, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 5, at McCabe United Methodist Church, 1030 N 6th St., Bismarck, with Rev. Jenny Hallenbeck-Orr officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Debra was born October 3, 1951, in Bismarck, ND, to Gordon and Margaret Mary (Butler) Kroeber. After living in Bismarck for several years, she and her family moved to Grand Forks. She graduated from St. James High School and then from the University of North Dakota, majoring in Elementary Education where she later received an art major. Deb married Doug Emerson on October 20, 1973, and moved to Bismarck where they raised two children, Brock and Kristy. Deb taught in elementary schools in Mandan and Bismarck. She later worked as a substitute teacher in Bismarck, which gave her the opportunity to visit many schools and meet some wonderful teachers. Deb especially enjoyed teaching art to elementary students and also was given the opportunity to teach art classes at Bismarck State College. Deb is survived by her husband, Doug; her children, Brock (Kumiko) Emerson and Kristy (Ross) Schiermeister; her twin sister, Pat (Jerry) Palczewski; her sisters, Kerry Ann (Bill) Marti and Kim (Tom) Buchholz; her brothers, Ross (Sandi) Kroeber and Scott (Libby) Kroeber; her granddaughters, Henleigh and Halyn Schiermeister and her grandsons, Ren and Shun Emerson; and many lovable nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her infant brother, Kent.
